Taper: Ricardo Ferrara (aka "Old Richard")., Owner of the tape: Quino Castro., Transfer: Quino Castro., Lineage: master cassette > TDK Tipe I Normal D90 cassette (most likely 2nd gen) > TECHNICS RS-B205 > RCA in/out connector > PHILIPS CDR 765 > Verbatim CDAudio (just one track) > wav (EAC secure mode) > wav (Adobe Audition 1.0 / tracks split and edit) > FLAC (flac 1.2.1b w/flac frontend 1.7.1 - align on sbe option - level 8 - verify on), Audience recording, most likely registered with built-in mics to a dataphone or similar equipment. I recently had a note from my good buddy BlindWilly (thanks a lot again, as always) with a link to download the show as .m4a format, which is the Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC), so it should be OK, though a full color spectral view (attached on this set) seemed to make it appear as lossy. Those files were coming from a friend of mine (Jesus Castro) originated from a CDAudio his brother Quino, a good friend too, had made himself transfered from a normal cassette he received straight from the taper back in 1998. I talked to Quino to ask him about and he was so kind to send me a Cd-R copied from his CDAudio and a new transfer to CDAudio in just one row, straight from his original cassette. He told me he found not so long ago, while moving on to a new home, this tape he had since 1998. His brother Jesus let him know it was from a previously uncirculated show, as no tape from that date and venue had ever seen the public light before, and they spreaded it up for friends and other people in the Dylan community via mediafire. Because of the full color spectral view we thought it might be lossy, but compared a B&W spectral view I obtained from the ALAC files to the one got from the files I extracted from Quino's Cd-R. They were identical and doubtlessly lossless (Screenshot of B&W spectral view is also included), though a band where freq. are drasticaly reduced is apparent at 19k. Don't know if it was from the original tape due to the recording gear or later produced while dubbing it to a normal cassette or if that occurred during the recent transfer, but doesn't look like taking away anything but noise., These are flaws found:, d1t09 @ [6:52.146] tape flip, d1t10 @ [0:00.000-0:03.960] analog drop (tape flip in), d1t14 @ [0:18.789-0:18.827] [0:19.297-0:19.331] analog drops, d1t15 @ [0:00.000-0:00.009] [6:16.960]analog drop, d1t15 @ [0:03.465] analog pop, I did not harm the sound of the recording in any way., EAC extraction log file reported synch error with suspicious position @ 0:00.00, though I could not hear it. Anyway, the small click was detected by digi flaw finder and repaired through Adobe Audition. Tape flip between A and B sides was slightly edited and just a few seconds of silence removed at end and on tape side change (which Ricardo took care to perform between songs)., I have also included an interview with the taper taken from the following site: http://www.country2.com/?pagina=noticias&id=93&PHPSESSID=0969274d8bcdb4794df1eb0582f33133 (a link to it was available through expectingrain), Thank you so very much, Ricardo, and congratulations to have come to tape this, though our gratefulness goes also to the Castro brothers for their kind sharing and Quino in particular for the preservation of the cassette., Luisbp51 (Hungercity October 6, 2010)
