It Ain't Me, Babe [10:20] Review by Gopherstick (http://www.gopherstick.com/Righteous%20To%20Me.htm) SOUND: Really nice sounding recording here folks. I wish everything in this set sounded as balanced as this does. First of all, there's next to nothing in the way of buzzing high end's or hot levels, it sounds like there's plenty to play with here. Bob is front and center yet remains rooted in the proper context with the band, and not like some alien voice beaming down his vocals from his grazing position high above in orbit. The guitars are also back where they belong (they only peek out for the solos, as it should be) and the drums are with them every step of the way. Tiny Tony Tim is in there somewhere with his bass, but this is a team effort tonight. Anyway, great sound, definitely one for your trade list. COMMENTS: My oh my what a nifty little Hard Times opener, Bob starts off a little spotty but quickly finds where he wants to be and delivers some great vocals. And check out the Just Like A Woman, sounds like he means it, what a crazy performance! WARNING: The Man In Me is good. I know, I know, it's a beer-run floater and all that, but this one is pretty tight, and Bob is so ready for the setlist tonight you can't help but appreciate every tune. Those guitars sound so fresh you almost wish Bob wouldn't blow back in with the vocals but not here, here Bob is lifting this thing off the ground and providing the energy and encouragement. Watching The River Flow brings thing back to reality some, but it's still wholly decent and the rodeo-clown-car breakdown is a trip, I think this is more of a case of me not liking the song much. I hate to evoke the dreaded 'definitive' or, and God help me, the 'Best Ever'...so let me simply say this: this version of Little Moses is the front-runner for the best among its siblings within Righteous To Me. Once again the seemingly always interesting Tambourine Man Deep Space Field Trip Jam Session goes into this interesting call and answer play, using, odd as it sounds, chords. Can you even solo with chords? A rhythm solo? Whatever it is, it's a vamping beauty, go have a listen. BOTTOM LINE: This entire show is a dazzler. Huge and hearty recommendation here, this one is a keeper and sure to be the darling of a Crystal Cat or Rattlesnake recruiting effort for a trip to the major leagues in the form of a remaster and release, complete with period-correct pictures and a $45.00 price tag. =================== =================== =================== === bd19930709_wav.md5 =================== =================== =================== # MD5 checksums generated by MD5summer (http://www.md5summer.org) # Generated 29.01.2005 13:30:16 e6e1c6542830222fbb98af9b876a3b8e *bd19930709d1t01.wav 1b12f9a848c6ea72f53ba69f88d074cd *bd19930709d1t02.wav 0893f7be8c7eae6536edbf40ca2a46a8 *bd19930709d1t03.wav b3593d0d7ca1b352b22408adf012ab70 *bd19930709d1t04.wav 14b6f86bf0aa3b74718f38cd5cb21e14 *bd19930709d1t05.wav 65253d57de0f2bd98587b44a886159c1 *bd19930709d1t06.wav b85019417b9f432bc7b0dd68b1b50b7a *bd19930709d1t07.wav b9ac41253a008ad0f4dbc65ee2f65529 *bd19930709d2t01.wav 2efe3a1c4ee396ed87a6fe9608530882 *bd19930709d2t02.wav 0687a40c9aff5c2661a0ee40e2688a19 *bd19930709d2t03.wav 147c101fbd7f1b9bcb7f2e66db6b2d7e *bd19930709d2t04.wav c1ba3585ecc0022bbf61753d8317eee3 *bd19930709d2t05.wav 17c138ca7e642e26474a9f10ac39dcc1 *bd19930709d2t06.wav =================== =================== ===================
