San Jose (25 Nov. '64), Santa Barbara (Dec. 7, '64), San Francisco (Nov. 27, '64) These recordings aren't for everybody. They are audience concert recordings, primitive by today's standards. The sound is distant and echoey, and there is noise sounds to be from adjusting/ bumping the recorder or microphone. The performances, however, are worth giving a listen, imho, particularly "Gates of Eden" and "It's All Right, Ma" and "Tambourine Man" on disc 1. Bob really has the audience in his pocket--you can hear their delighted responses to "WWIII," "John Birch," and "If You Gotta Go." (He was pretty funny in those days.) As I said, this isn't for everybody; but according to Olof, there are only 7 existing recordings of shows from 1964: These 2; 2 from the Newport Folk Festival (July 24 &26); Forest Hills (Aug.8 guest appearance with Joan B.,); Philadelphia, PA (Sept. ??); and The "All Hallow's Eve" show (Oct. 31--"Live 1964"). http://www.bjorner.com/64.htm#_Toc491259081 The Bob Blackmar radio interview, a 13+ minute track, is virtually unintelligible, but you can make out some of Bob's characteristic sparring with the interviewer.
