Good evening. before Masters of War Thank you. Domo... domo. That was a recent hit of mine. Here's an old hit. Ha-ha... This was during my protest period. I'm still in that period. Anyway, I wrote this about thirty years ago. It still holds up so I still do it. Called "Masters Of War." after Masters of War Thank you. I wanna introduce you now to one of America's finest Rock n' Roll Bands. It's one of my favourite, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. [Petty: "Domo."] before I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know Domo, domo, domo. Ha ha! "It's all right Ma, it's life and life only". That's what I used to say to my Ma all the time. She'd say "I know it is, Bob". We're gonna sing you an old song. Used to play this on the radio when we were growing up we used to hear songs like this on the radio all the time. You don't hear this kind of stuff too much anymore. It's kind of tragic actually. before Lenny Bruce This is a song I wrote a while back about one of America's lost forgotten people. He did a whole lot when he was around and he got actually crucified for it. So he did what he had to do, I guess, and moved on. Since that time a lot of people come around doing the same thing he did, only they're not doing it really quite as well, but they're picking up on him where he'd left off. And they're making a lot more money doing it. They have all the fine things in life, and he didn't get any of that stuff. So I thought that I had to give credit where credit was due. The least I could do was to write about it, so I wrote this song about it. before Ballad Of A Thin Man Thank you. Here's a song I wrote a while back, seems just like the other day. Anyway, I guess, I wrote this one after doing what they call those press conferences. I did one in London, England one time and I didn't really want to answer any questions, so I didn't. Sometimes you got to do that. Anyway, I wanna sing this song for you now, just like I wrote it then, just like I sing it now. The same thing, yesterday, today and tomorrow. after Ballad Of A Thin Man Thank you. Something is happening. All right, once again now, have a big hand, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. before Seeing The Real You At Last Thank you. Domo, domo. Everybody must get stoned. Well, I don't know, that can be taken a couple of different ways. Lots of my songs can. Here's one that can't be, though. This one can be taken only one way. before Like A Rolling Stone I wanna thank to Tom Petty band that backed me up tonight. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers! On the keyboards, Benmont Tench. On the drums, Stan Lynch. Playing bass tonight, Howie Epstein. On lead guitar, Michael Campbell. I specially wanna thank Mr Tom Petty himself. before In The Garden All right, we're gonna sing this last song here now. It's all about my hero. Everybody's got a hero. Where I come from there's a lot of heroes. There's sure plenty of 'em. John Wayne, Clark Gable, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, they're all heroes to some people. Anyway, I don't care nothing about those people. I have my own hero. I'm gonna sing about him right now. before Sukiyaki (Ue o muite aruko) Thank you. We're gonna try to play this song here. I remember... I think it was back in the fifties, the late fifties, this song was played on the radio a lot. And I know it meant a lot, it meant a lot to us then. Never did understand the words to it, but I think it did become top, top record on the charts. And I used to hear it all the time. Never did forget it. Can't remember any of the words, but we're gonna play the melody anyway. ------------------------------------ FINGERPRINTS: t01 [0:26] cough; [0:57,3:16] sneeze; [1:04+] background talking; [2:31] laughter t06 [0:16+] background talking t07 [0:35+] "Yo-haw-Ha-ha..." t18 [0:40+] background talking t24 [0:52+] background talking t28 [3:00,3:12,3:27] cough ------------------------------------ FLAWS some tiny clicks throughout resulting from high levels and clipped peaks t01 [0:00-0:13] mic bumps/taper noise; [2:18] volume increase; [4:08-4:35] sound gets muffled t03 [2:30] mic bump; [3:16] hiss increases (do these mics have auto sensitivity adjustment on?
